When Krivi is sent to the bitter north to assassinate the leader of a small rebellion against the Crown, his shot at redemption quickly spirals into doubt and chaos.
As Krivi infiltrates the ranks of the Sage Sisters, the group of women behind the growing resistance to the Crown’s misogynistic laws, he discovers this is no ragtag band of troublemakers. Drawn to their leader Pali, a woman whose vision and determination force Krivi to question the dark choices of his former life, Krivi must confront his past and decide whether his future will be one of grim loyalty or righteous regret.
